It is with deep sadness that the family of Percy Stanford Lowe-Ching announces his peaceful passing at his home in Thornhill. Percy will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Cecelia (nee Chin) and his two beloved children Sue (Gus Dedes) and Richard (Tamara). Percy also leaves behind his five treasured grandchildren, Tyson, Sydney, Carter, Steve and Angelina.
Percy was born in Gordon Town, Jamaica, on January 16, 1931, to a loving family where hard work, honesty and resilience were as normal as breathing. At the age of 19, his father passed away, and Percy had to drop out of school to help run the family bakery. Percy transitioned to the grocery store business, where he found great success. In 1974, Percy immigrated to Canada, where he went back to school and then started an appliance repair company. He also dabbled in real estate for over 30 years.
Percy was a loving family man who was known to be a man of integrity. He never missed a day without reading the newspaper, and he loved nothing more than bending your ear over politics. Percy had a green thumb and took pride in cultivating his orchids in his greenhouse. He was a wonderful storyteller and a self-proclaimed karaoke star. He had a passion for business and real estate, travel and loved all types of music. He never ceased to put a smile on everyone's face and would make friends effortlessly.
Due to the current Covid restrictions, there will be a private family gathering on Tuesday May 11, 2021.
Entombment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. If desired, in memoriam donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society.
