Beloved wife of the late Robert Ross. Dear mother of Robert (Sandra), John (Carol) and Elizabeth (Bradley). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Craig (Jessica) and Fraser (Robyn); Jeff (Kattie) and Heather (Michael); Kimberly (Nick) and Gregory (Sarah). Proud great grandmother to 16 great grandchildren. Dear friend to Wayne “Chuck” Chapple and the late Clint Palmer.
As a centenarian she enjoyed a rich eventful life. Born and raised in Toronto, Ruth met her beloved in North Bay and married in 1943. After the war they settled in North Bay until 1953 when they moved back to the Toronto area. When no longer able to live independently she moved to the Bowmanville Creek Retirement home in Bowmanville where she remained active and enjoyed making new lasting friendships.
Ruth spent most of her work career as a loan officer for the North York Employees Credit Union, where she was recognized as an honorary firefighter for the city of North York on her retirement.
She loved an active social life and made friends wherever she went. Her many hobbies and activities included lawn bowling at the Willowdale Lawn Bowling Club that led to many national and international travel opportunities. Ruth’s numerous other leisure activities included entertaining friends, knitting for family and charities, and loved the game of Bridge.
Ruth was active at St. George on Yonge Anglican Church, volunteered in the office answering phones and kept the sacraments spotless and perfectly ironed. She treasured the camaraderie and love she received from members of the congregation.
Thank-you to the care givers at Lakeridge Gardens for their outstanding care and dedication.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at St. George on Yonge Anglican Church on Saturday June 17th, 2023 at 11:00 am
