With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Soo Young No, who went home to be with the Lord at 8:18pm on July 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 20, 1947 in Hwasang-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Lee, Soo Young was the second daughter among three children (older sister, younger brother) of father, Lee, Jong-Geon and mother, Jang, Hyo-Jun. She immigrated to Canada in 1974, settling in Toronto, Ontario. Shortly after arriving in Canada, in 1975, she worked in the office of the Toronto Korean Presbyterian Church, as well as at the Korea Times in Canada as an editorial staff member.
She was a devoted wife to Se-jin No, a cherished mother to Andrew (Jina) and Elisa (Dave), and step-son Morris, and a proud grandmother to Micah, Yuna, Sophia, and Cara. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and grace. A woman of strong Christian faith, Soo Young No found strength and purpose in her relationship with Jesus. She was an active member of Korean Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, where she served joyfully throughout the years.
One of her greatest joys was cooking for her family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and love. Whether it was hosting friends, a big family dinner, a holiday feast, birthday celebration, or a simple meal with her husband, Se-jin, she poured her heart into every dish.
Though our hearts ache with her absence, we rejoice in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her kindness, generosity and love will live on in all of us.
A public visitation for Soo Young No will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Korean Philadelphia Presbyterian Church (8 Codeco Ct, Toronto, ON M3A 1A2). An evening church service will follow from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a time of fellowship afterwards.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Korean Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, followed by the burial from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres (1591 Elgin Mills Rd E, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9).
Thank you to all of you who were a part of her life.
