1925-2014
Passed away on October 15th to join his dearest wife Elizabeth
Who just recently passed away on August 30th. Deeply devoted to each other for 65 years
and loving parents of Harlene Jeffrey, Kelly Meehan (Mike), Michael and Mark.
Cherished grandfather to David Jeffrey (Glenda), Chris Jeffrey (Monica),
Sarah Sirk (Daniel), Emily Meehan, Michael Meehan and great-grandfather of five.
Born in Sarnia, son of Edmund and Ethel, dad began his professional life in aeronautics
in Toronto at A. V. Roe in project engineering on the CF 100 Fighter. He became Project Designer of the Arrow Mark 1. He believed the cancellation of the Arrow in 1959 was a great tragedy in Canadian aviation. When deHavilland Canada took over, dad became Project Manager on the Buffalo military transport. He later moved on to Project Manager of the turboprop DASH 7 and then was involved in the DASH 8 programme. Dad has been recognized for outstanding contribution to transportation in Canada with an Award of Merit. He retired in 1987, but it allowed for plenty of time to play golf at Thornhill with Betty and his friends and to winter in St. Augustine’s. Dad was happiest at home with his beloved Betty and his children, enjoying Scrabble games, crossword puzzles, bridge and the pleasures of good books.
There will be a funeral Mass at St. Gabriel’s Church (670 Sheppard Avenue East) for dad and mom on Wednesday October 22nd at 10 a.m., their anniversary. Please join us after the Mass in the Atrium to share your memories with us. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
