Yok Sam (Anna) Wong (nee Yok Sam Lee) passed away on April 19, 2026. She was a truly kind and compassionate person who was always there for the people in her life. Whether it was a friend who needed a hand or a family member looking for support, she was the first one to step up and help. For her, looking after the people she loved wasn’t a chore—it was just who she was.
She was an incredibly hard worker who always wanted her daughters to have the very best. More than anything, she taught us the value of helping others and being there for people, just like she was for us. Because of her, we go out into the world with those same values.
Our mother loved life and stayed active for most of it. She found so much happiness in the simple things, like going for a walk in her neighbourhood, to the park, enjoying a good meal with her family, tending to her plants, or watching a film. She was a woman of independence and had a vibrant energy that stayed with her always.
She is survived by her daughters, Jenny Wong-Rinyai and Christina Wong; her granddaughter Chloe Rinyai; her son-in-law, Richard Rinyai; her brother Lee Yeuk Mo and his family, Calvin Lee, Amy Lee, Thomas Lee, Yvonne Lee, and Leo Lee; her brother Li York Ling, her sister-in-law Li Chan Shik Lan, and their family, Leona Li, Franco Li, Lena Lu, and Priscilla Li; her sister-in-law Lee Lam Lai Ying and her family, Lee Nga Kit, Lee Nga Shan, and Lee Sik Man.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cheung Cho Sin and Lee Sze Hei; her husband Po On Peter Wong; her brother Lee Yeuk Kai; her sister-in-law Lee Wong Wai Hing; and the family cats, Patches and Marmalade.
We will miss her deeply and dearly every single day.
Her kindness lives on in us and in the way we care for the people around us.
While flowers are welcome, in lieu of them, donations can be made in Yok Sam Anna's memory to West Neighbourhood House, Fort York Food Bank, or your favourite charity.
Visitation will be held at the Kane-Jarrett North York Funeral Home, 6191 Yonge Street south of Steeles Ave., on Friday May 8th at 10:30AM. Buddhist Ceremony to follow at 11:30AM, both in the chapel. Interment to follow at Highland Hills Cemetery, 12492 Woodbine Avenue, Gormley, ON L0H 1G0.
