Maria Martins Neves, age 82, of Gustine, California passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018. She was born November 15, 1935 in São Sebastião, Terceira, Açores to Purcina Martins and Manuel Alves Ferreira.
Maria is survived by: daughter Ana M. Coelho (Ilberto Foste) of Gustine; grandchild Michael N. Coelho of Gustine; and sister Bernadette Carvalho of Canada. Mrs. Neves also leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as her cousins: José Neves, Anita Neves, Maria Leonardo, Jorge Leonardo, Frances Couto, Joe Couto, Antonio Neves, Irene Neves, Eugenina Neves, and Cremilde Sousa.
She was preceded in death by: her husband João Amar Neves on August 8, 2016; brother Manuel Sousa; and parents Manuel Alves Ferreira and Purcina Martins.
Maria was a dedicated parishioner of Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles Church in Gustine, California.
A visitation for Mrs. Maria Martins Neves will occur from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service: 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California. A recitation of the rosary followed by a funeral mass will occur at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles Church: 370 Linden Avenue, Gustine, California. She will be laid to rest immediately after the services at Hills Ferry Cemetery District: 1334 W. Stuhr Road, Newman, California.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Coelho, Joe Silva, Manuel Barcellos, Paul Leonardo, Juan Carlos Ourique and Joey Couto.
