Arthur John Whallon

Richard and Suzette (Micheli) Whallon. Art passed away on September 7, 2021, in

Tyler, Texas.

He was a graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis, and after

joined the United States Air Force where he was trained to speak the Japanese

language, and then stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. He later

graduated from the Pikes Peak Institute of Medical Technology, before continuing his

education by earning a B.S. in Geology from Indiana University, and an M.S. in

Hydrology from the University of Arizona. He enjoyed a 30-year career as a

hydrogeologist working in locations across the US. He finished his career working as a

civilian for the United States Air Force until his retirement in 2010.

He loved to read, especially the Bible. His great passion in life was his deep love for

Jesus Christ, and to spread the Word of God to everyone. He studied as a layman in

Christian Theology for many years, learning the Hebrew and Greek languages. Second

to his faith, was his love for his family and his many wonderful years as a loving and

supportive husband and father. His love for geology and collecting rocks “Geos-Rock”

led to a large collection of rocks from everywhere he traveled.

He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Suzette Whallon, and stepson

Travis Ainsworth. Art is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sharon Whallon, daughters

Kiandra Whallon, Leah Whallon, Rebecca Whallon Harsh and her husband Adam,

Kristen Whallon Clark and her husband Corey, son Arthur John Whallon Jr. “AJ” and his

wife Candace, stepdaughter Casey McClintock. and stepson Bradley Taylor. His

granddaughters Aubrey, Riley, Georgia, Vivienne, Lily, and Hannah, grandsons Mason,

Felix, and Kai, step-grandsons Tre and Memphis, as well as sisters Cathy, Nancy, and

Debbie, brothers Richard and Tim, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Hill Country Bible Church Lakeline, 12124 Ranch Road 620 N., Austin, Texas 78750.
