Barbara Faye White

Mom was born on April 25, 1933, in Middleburg, North Carolina, in the heart of tobacco country, to Garland Howard Bowling and Willie Gray Bowling. She graduated from Henderson High School in Henderson, North Carolina, where she proudly served as a flag girl in the school band.

On Christmas Day, 1950, Mom married R.C. White. She was a devoted mother who dedicated herself to raising her children and making their home a place of warmth, security, and unconditional love. When life required her to support herself, she met the challenge by earning her real estate license and working as a leasing agent.

To her children she was “Mom,” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was “Gran.” Whether reminding them to “wear your coat,” making sure they were fed, or staying awake until every child made it home safely, Mom demonstrated a mother’s love in countless everyday acts that her kids will never forget.

Mom loved cardinals and covered bridges. She enjoyed watching tennis and golf, faithfully cheered for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, was an avid card player, and relished any opportunity to sing karaoke. She cherished a collection of poems written by herself and her kids. Mom loved laughter. Mom loved life.

Mom is survived by her five children: David White; Jere White and wife Carlyn; Linda Wiece and husband Steve; Ken White and wife Leslie; and Kevin White and wife Carla. She also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren: John White and wife Misty; Laura Gallaher and husband Sam; Emily White; Tyler White and wife Andee; Christopher White and wife Shelley; Courtney Whitaker and husband Kiefer; Cari White and husband Guillermo; Lauryn White; Nathaniel White; Aubrey White; and Steven Wiece. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Garland Bowling; her mother, Willie Gray Scott; and her sister, Sandra Kiplinger.

Perhaps the greatest blessing of Mom’s final year was the sincere faith she placed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her family rejoices in the assurance that she has gone home to be with Him, where there is no more pain or sorrow or death. While her absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, they find comfort in the hope and expectation that they will see her again. Mom’s legacy is not measured by material wealth or professional accomplishments, but by the generations she loved, nurtured, and encouraged. Her beauty, kindness, sweetness, and warmth will be forever remembered. Mom, you were deeply loved, and you will be greatly missed.

A Memorial service for Barbara will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Bethel Bible Church- Theater, Tyler, Texas 75701
