Becky Olson-Gouldthorpe (Hatherly) was born in Austin, Texas on August 30, 1940. She passed away October 21, 2020 at the age of 80 at Hospice of East Texas. Becky is survived by her four daughters: Sylvia Featherston of Tyler; Katherine Elliott and her husband Glen of Arp; Teresa Petty and her husband Richard of Tyler; and Sharon Curtis and her husband (Bill) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; 10 grand-children, and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Walton Hatherly and his wife Vera of Austin, and her sister Tula and her husband, Dexter of Bastrop and numerous nieces and nephews.
Becky was preceded in death by two husbands; C. W. Olson of Tyler and John Gouldthorpe of Tyler; one son, Ricky Olson; her parents Walton Earl Hatherly and Bessie Siegeler Hatherly of Austin; her brothers, Howard Hatherly and Fred Hatherly; and one sister, Mila Diane Woods.
Becky loved the Lord, her family, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she loved to crochet, work with ceramics, and work with children at her church. She was a wonderful cook, and she kept homemade pies, cakes and candy readily available. She was quiet, soft spoken, and known for her sweet spirit.
In her final years, Becky was a resident of the Memory Care Unit at Briarcliff in Tyler, where she received wonderful care.
Pallbearers will be Billy Cawthon, Glen Elliott, Ryan Elliot, Ryan Haws, Zach Jones and Alex Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Coy Olson.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Becky’s life, October 25, 2020 at Sharon Baptist Church, 12216 CR 3226, Arp, Texas at 2 pm with a private interment at Williams Cemetery.
