

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Paulette Franklin of 43 years, their two children, Vashone (Alisha) and Danielle; eight grandchildren, Monique, Monzel, Makayla, Jullian, Keiana, Amaya, Ne’ivy and August; six great-grandchildren, Kaeden, Aaron, Anthony, Kailani, Andre and Alexander. His sister, Waldean Hammonds, God-daughter, Olivia; dear brother-in-law, Harry Coleman (Mariela); sister-in-laws, Denise and Priscilla; a host of nieces, nephews, special family members and devoted friends, Paul Jackson, Jr., Ronald Looney, Ron Williams and Dr. Valerie Saunders. He was preceded in death by his father, James “Jelly” and Linnie “Sis” Mae Franklin; siblings, Ennis, Quinton, Terry, Verline, James, Nellie, Jacky, Paul and Mary.
Ben was known as a man of integrity, Commitment and passion. He loved teaching the Gospel to all who would listen and found profound joy in his dedication to Masonry over the past 30 years as a part of Community Lodge # 43, East Palo Alto, CA, Jerimiah Chapter # 19, Seaside, CA, Dewitt Lodge # 429, Tyler, TX, Welcome Chapter 118, Consisory Dorick and Maji Temple. Ben was also an ordained deacon in 1984 and studied comparative religious studies at San Jose State University. Ben was a faithful servant to the end.”His comedic sense of humor and declaration statement “Praise God” will echo in our hearts forever and he will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 15th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. A service to celebrate Ben’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16th, 2022 at Liberty Baptist Church in Troup with burial to follow at Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Jackson, James Franklin, Marcus Franklin, Ronald Looney, Ronald Williams and Anthony Ford.
