Carolyn was born on July 19, 1963 to Joan and Paul Kale in Portsmouth Ohio. She was the seventh child in a devout Catholic family of eight. She attended Notre Dame High in Portsmouth Ohio were she distinguished herself in athletics, excelling in basketball and volleyball. She was recruited by Kilgore Jr College and attended Tyler Junior College where she earned an Associate’s degree. She married and began a career as a veterinarian assistant with several clinics in the Tyler and Lindale area. She possessed a deep love for animals. Later, Carolyn pursued a career in the retail industry where she enjoyed working customer service and management.
Carolyn enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Longhorns fan. She especially enjoyed college basketball. She led an active outdoor life which included fishing and four wheeling. Her best days in life included the time she spent with her children and four grandchildren. Carolyn was known by all to have an outgoing personality which was both determined and generous to all in need. She was active with her companion in the oil and gas industry and played an integral role in the development of oil and gas in Smith County.
Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Jonie Nicole Sanders of Arlington Texas and Jennifer Lynn Sanders of Tyler an ex-husband, Marlin Ross Sanders of Lindale, Texas and her loving companion James Goodgame of Tyler Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kristopher Wade Sanders, Hailey Elizabeth Basham, Sarah Lynn Basham, and Aaden Ross Sanders of Tyler Texas. Her siblings include: John Kale of Acworth OH, Linda Phipps of Lehigh Acres FL, Chris Kale of Lake Forest CA, Mary Alice Maillet of Lucasville OH, Terri Grose of Wheelersburg OH, Paula Kale of Tyler Tx, Annette Kale of Tyler Tx; as well as her daughter in law Holly Daniels of Tyler Tx, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Justin Ross Sanders (August 31, 2011), Joan and Paul Thompson, Paul Kale and C-Dog, her beloved Pit-Bull/Mastiff.
Visitation will occur at 5-7:00 PM Tuesday July the 1st at the Lloyd James Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at10:00am, Wednesday July the 2nd at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.
