Carolyn Davis Womack

Services for Carolyn Davis Womack, 98, of Tyler, TX are scheduled for Sunday, November 10, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at West Erwin Church of Christ, 420 W. Erwin St., Tyler, Tx. Bill Allen will be officiating and a private family burial will follow at a later date.

Mrs. Womack passed from this life on November 5, 2024. She was born in Dallas, TX on June 5, 1926. After graduating from North Texas State Teachers’ College and marrying Ray Womack in 1947, she and Ray raised seven children before she enrolled at East Texas State and received her Masters degree in speech therapy. She worked for the Tyler ISD for 25 years as a speech therapist and then as the district’s head speech pathologist and diagnostician. She was also an active member and officer with the Texas and Smith County Retired Teachers’ Associations.

Mrs. Womack was a faithful member of West Erwin Church of Christ alongside her husband Ray since 1964. As a couple, they were active in church activities such as Young at Heart and the Lunch Bunch Group until Ray passed away in 2011. She continued to be an active volunteer at the Cardiac Rehab Center at Christus Mother Frances.

Mrs. Womack is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter “Ray” Womack, and by an infant son, Robert Andrew “Andy” Womack. She is survived by sons, Skip Womack (Lynda) of Tyler, David Womack (Susan) of Chandler, Kevin Womack (Kelly Jo) of Dallas; daughters Candy Hilliard of Tyler, Holly Shupe (Kim) of Poplar Bluff, MO, Meredith Burke of Tyler, and Kelly Finley of Tyler; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and other extended loving family members.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 E. First St., Tyler.

The family extends a special thanks to Rachel Huff and to the staff at Hospice of East Texas.
