

A Celebration of Life service for Charles A. “Rocky” Rachuig is scheduled for 11 AM on Monday, January 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church, the church that Rocky built in 1973 and served faithfully for many years; Pastor Art Hill will be officiating. Burial is scheduled for 10 AM prior to services at Tyler Memorial Park under the direction of Lloyd James and family will receive friends from 3-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
He was called by his Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the age of 90.
Mr. Rachuig was born in Dallas to Walter and Alvina Rachuig on April 10, 1920 and attended school in Valley Mills and then Houston. In 1937, he entered the A&M College of Texas and was a member of the Class of 1941. He enlisted in the Navy and served in the US shipyards during WWII and returned to A&M after the war and graduated in August 1947 with a degree in Architecture. Rocky married Betty Marie McCoy in Houston on May 8, 1948 and owned A&M Construction in Houston in the 1950’s. The family moved to Tyler in 1958 and joined Tyler Construction Company, which he later owned and operated for over 40 years in the commercial construction business.
Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Lois Cole Rachuig of Whitehouse; his sons and daughters-in-law Charlie G. and Brenda Rachuig, Richardson; Carl and Jeanette Rachuig, San Antonio; daughter and son-n-law Kim and Steve Weaver, Tyler. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Lauren Weaver Kendrick, Andrew Rachuig, Will Weaver, Lindsey Rachuig, Allison Rachuig, Clark Rachuig, Alysse Rachuig, David Rachuig and one great grandchild, Kaden Kendrick. Additional survivors include step children Steve and Christy Kee and children; Brad and Kim Cole and children, and Scott and Donna Cole and children. He was preceded in death by wife of 53 years, Betty McCoy Rachuig, his parents and one brother.
Special thanks to his caregivers, Daisy Blakeman and Esterlean Ward for their compassion and care during the last few years.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Andrew Rachuig, Clark Rachuig, David Rachuig and Will Weaver along with lifelong friends Dr. Charles McCarthy, Dr. Donald Knarr, Earl Davis and Tom Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters Lauren Weaver Kendrick, Lindsey Rachuig, Allison Rachuig and Alysse Rachuig.
