

Charles was born September 19, 1926 in El Reno, Oklahoma to the late Charles Henry Seamands and Allie Price Seamands. He is survived by his brother, Colonel George Seamands of Alexandria, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Hodgkinson of El Reno, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Dorraine; his children, Edward Seamands and wife, Lisa of St. Petersburg, Florida, Charlene Seamands of Satellite Beach, Florida, and Michael Seamands and wife, Kerri of Tyler; grandchildren, Jorden Seamands and wife, Sarah and their daughter, Natalie of Benbrook, Byron Seamands of Dallas, Bridgette Seamands Bentley and son, Alex Bentley of Gulfport, Mississippi and Hayden Seamands of Tyler.
Charles, affectionately known as “Chuck” was raised in El Reno, Oklahoma. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Seattle, Washington. He requested and received a transfer to the U.S. Marine Corp and was subsequently sent to serve in China during WWII. He later attended both Oklahoma State University and graduated from Oklahoma University. He then went on to earn his DDS specializing in prosthodontics from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. During this time, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he finished his career as a colonel. He earned numerous awards throughout his career in the military, including two Legion of Merit Medals, a Meritorious Service Medal and an Air Force Commendation Medal. He had overseas assignments in England, Spain and the Philippines as well as stateside assignments. After retirement from the Air Force, he and Dorraine settled in Austin, where he practiced independently as a prosthodontist for eight years before fully retiring to live with his wife in Antigua, West Indies to enjoy their dream retirement on Dorraine’s home island in the Caribbean.
Chuck was a gentle and kind man who always put others before himself. He was devoted to loving and taking care of Dorraine, as well as his three children. He was a life long member of the Catholic Church.
Visitation for Charles W. Seamands is scheduled for Tuesday May 30, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 followed by a rosary service from 7:00-8:00 P.M. at the Lloyd James Funeral Home. The burial service for family will be held at Cathedral of the Pines at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 with Father Kelly of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church officiating.
The pallbearers will be Michael Seamands, Edward Seamands, George Seamands, Jorden Seamands, Byron Seamands, and Donald Baker.
