Memorial Services for Charles C. M. Woodward will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Matthew Boulter and Father Stephen Stine officiating.
Charles C.M. Woodward was born February 21, 1929 in Nice, France to Harold C. and Izette M. Woodward. He attended Virginia Military Institute, receiving a B. S. in Civil Engineering. He served with the A-1-7 U. S. Marines in Korea and bases in Quantico, Virginia and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina from 1951 – 1956 rising to the rank of Captain. He received a Purple Heart as a result of action in Korea. After his military service he worked in the U. S. Patent Office while earning his Juris Doctor from George Washington University. He has worked a Patent Counsel for NASA and Dynamics and as Corporate Attorney and Human Resources Director for Howe-Baker engineers until his retirement.
Mr. Woodward married Patricia K. Robison on September 13, 1952 in Chevy Chase Maryland. They enjoyed 50 years together until her death in 2003.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Tyler where he has served as a greeter and has participated in a Habitat for Humanity project. He was also a member of the VMI Alumni Association and the American Humane Society.
He was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States and is listed in Who’s Who in the Law. He was a founding member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Fort Worth Texas where he served as Bishop’s Warden and Vestry member and built their first altar.
He is survived by daughters, Karin W. Dalton, Poteet, Texas and Anne W. Lang of Monroe, Louisiana, grandsons James R. Dalton and wife Jacqueline of San Antonio, Texas, Michael J. Dalton and wife Kristin of San Antonio, Texas, and Christopher N Lang of Monroe, Louisiana, great grandson Dorian R. Dalton of San Antonio, Texas and Sister-in-Law Joyce R. Moser of Morris Connecticut.
He lived a life of generous service and friendship and will be deeply missed by his Brother Rats of VMI, his comrades in arms in A-1-7, and all his family and many friends.
