

Corinne P. McAllister, age 84, of Tyler, formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away in the evening hours of Thursday, August 16, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 12, 1928 in the village of Melvindale, Michigan to Ebar and Adeline Smith, they preceded her in death. Corinne was raised at several ports along the Great Lakes. She attended Kellogg Community College which began her life long love of art and led her into a career owning her own art studio. She married the love of her life and best friend, Joseph A. McAllister on March 1, 1948. After more than 64 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories, he survives. She took pride in being an active parent in her children’s lives and was a part of the Girl Scouts with her daughters for 25 years. In her adult years, Corinne enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, cooking, knitting, and wood working. She was active in the Quilting Guild, Art Society, and Morning Coffee Cluth. Corinne was a strong, talented, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who left an example of a life well lived and a legacy of love and hard work for all to cherish.
Corinne is survived by her husband Joseph; children, Sharlene Miller, James McAllister, and Teresa Nowland; grandchildren, Kimberly Miller, Dawn Miller, Sheryl Miller, Jamee James, and Donald Nowland. She is preceded in death by siblings, Betty Goldsworthy, Harlow Smith, Norman Smith, and Ina Tabiadon.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home in Battle Creek Michigan with the Minister Robert Muirhead officiating, Burial will follow at Battle Creek Memorial Park with Donald Nowland, Austin Douglas, Gary smith, Steve Smith, James McAllister and Fred Whitmer serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
