

Craig Ray Akin, 69, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2025. He was born on February 8, 1956, in San Augustine, Texas to Joseph Wise and Frances Lee Akin. Craig is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his sons, Nicholas Akin and wife Traci, Heath Akin and wife Suzie; and his beloved grandsons, Colton and Corben. He is also survived by his brothers, Max Akin and wife Teri, Jeff Akin and wife Shari. Craig was preceded in death by his parents and his half-brother, Steve Herman.
Craig was a graduate of San Augustine High School and the University of Texas at Tyler. Retiring after 42 years as an engineer at Tyler Pipe, Craig embraced life to the fullest. He spent much of his time fishing, hunting, and doing what he loved most- being with his family. Whether he was tinkering around the shop or working on the farm, Craig found joy in simple moments and in sharing them with the people he cared about most. Craig will be remembered for his warm heart, steady spirit, and the love and laughter he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort to all who knew him.
A Memorial service to celebrate Craig’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025 in the Chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
