

Graveside services for Hollis David “Dave” Wright, 80 of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating, under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Dave Wright passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in Tyler. He was born August 14, 1943 in Gadsden, Alabama to Wenford and Helen Wright. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp serving 6 years. He owned and operated Dave Wright Custom Painting co. for over 50 years. He was a Mason and a member of the Sharon Shrine Temple where he was a member of the Clown Unit where he was also a director of staff. He also was a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Dave was an avid car enthusiast, and had a love for his Corvettes. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to help anyone in need. He also had a nickname for everyone he met.
Dave was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Glenda Slaton Wright; by his parents, Hollis and Helen Wright; sister, Glenda Ann Mills and brother, Ray Wright.
Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Wright Humphrey of Tyler and Dana Wright Clifton of Tyler; grandchildren, Emily Loosier of Tyler, Dylan Humphrey and wife Kalyn Howard of Bullard and Andon Humphrey of Whitehouse; three great-grandchildren, Gracie Clark of Tyler, Laneley Humphrey of Bullard and Kieran Humphrey of Bullard. Also by a nephew, Cody Wright of Poncedeleon, Florida.
Pallbearers will be Brad Lewis, Ron Wells, Gene Clifton, Russ Tate, Carl Keller and Randy Humphrey. Honorary pallbearers are Dylan Humphrey, Andon Humphrey and Emily Loosier.
