Dennis E. Lowe, 89, died at home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, six months to the day since the passing of his beloved wife, Merle. He was born on February 11, 1936, in Mart, Texas, the youngest of two boys born to Wilton and Annie Mae Lowe.
Dennis graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, class of 1954. He immediately enlisted in the Air Force, and the following year, married his High School sweetheart. In the Air Force, Dennis completed his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. In the following years, he was stationed in Tucson, AZ, Sacramento, CA, Honolulu, HI, and ended his military career in Pasadena, TX just prior to moving to Corpus Christi, TX.
During his time in Honolulu, Dennis was a clerk and during the Cuban Missile Crisis, worked in a top-secret area. This position allowed him to work with computers and started him on his career path. After his discharge from the Air Force, he joined the Civil Service and was employed at Corpus Christi Army Depot for the Department of Defense. He was a computer systems analyst and eventually became a supervisor of his department.
All through the various locations he was stationed, his devoted wife, Merle, followed him, and along the way added three daughters - Ginger, Dinah & Lisa. Being the only male in a family surrounded by girls, Dennis enjoyed having two sons-in-law…Mike Lohman and Randy Einhaus…who he treated like sons. And, of course, a shining light in his life was his only granddaughter, Brittany.
In every city they lived, church and God were an important part of their lives. Dennis served in many capacities including Usher, Elder, Teacher and Trustee. He was a steadfast presence in every church he attended and served each role with faithfulness.
The one thing Dennis was well-known for was his sense of humor. He had an ever-ready joke to tell, and laughter to share. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting and music. He had hundreds of songs on his computer where he would sit and listen. His other interests were watching Westerns, war movies and British mysteries. His collection of movies rivaled that of his song collection.
In 2019, after 51 years in Corpus Christi, the family made the decision to move to Tyler, Texas. In 2024, the family was all together again when Brittany made the move to Tyler. This was the final chapter of Dennis’s life, and he enjoyed every moment being spoiled by his family.
He is predeceased by his parents and his older brother, Charles Lowe. Surviving are his daughters, Ginger Einhaus and her husband, Randy Einhaus, Dinah Lowe, Lisa Lohman and her husband Mike Lohman and granddaughter, Brittany Lohman. He has four sisters-in-law, Nancy Lowe, Dovie Ivey, LaNelle Senchal, and Connie McCracken; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Lloyd-James Funeral Home, 1101 East 1st Street, Tyler, Tx 75701. This will be an informal and casual gathering of family and friends to honor, celebrate and remember the special life of Dennis Lowe.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send donations to your local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) or the Dementia Society of America.
