

Dorothy Mildred Odom, age 86, of Houston, formerly of Tyler, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Legend Oaks – West Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 19, 1927 in Dallas, Texas to George William and Faye Parker Patterson; they preceded her in death. Dorothy married the love of her life and best friend, Hulsey Leon Odom, on January 9, 1945 in Dallas; he also preceded her in death. Dorothy worked as an insurance secretary but anyone who knew her will remember her for the unending love she had for her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved the trips she was able to make to California with the family and the time she was able to spend with her beloved grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Ginger Biernacki, and husband Timothy D., of Houston; one daughter-in-law, Linda Simmons Odom of Midland, Texas; two brothers, Bill Patterson and Bob Patterson, both of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren, Brandi Lynee’ Biernacki Leach, and husband James H., II, Blake Lewis Biernacki, and wife Andrea, all of Houston, David Leon Odom, Jr., and wife Jennifer Oliver Odom, of McKinney, Kristen Kay Odom Sanders, and husband Jim, of Stephenville, and Robyn Michelle Odom of Midland; and by five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, David Leon Odom, and two sisters, Katy and Betty.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Jay Taylor officiating and Blake Biernacki, Timothy Biernacki, Alexander Leach, James Leach, David Odom, and Clay Thornton serving as pallbearers.
Services are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
