

Elizabeth (Betty) May Dalhoff passed away on June 7, 2024. She was born on January 28, 1932, in Nutley, New Jersey to William and Grace Walz. She was the youngest of five children. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Dalhoff in October 2023. She was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Walz, her brothers Norman Walz, Jack Walz, William Walz and sister Virginia Walz, and grandson Shaun Jackson.
She is survived by son Mark Dalhoff and wife Brandi, and daughter Kathryn Jackson and her children: Branden Jackson and wife, Jamie with their children Alyson, Jack, and Maggie, and daughter Heather Broome with her children, Katie, Avery and Cayden, and Shaun's wife Jessi Jackson and his children, Hayley Jackson-Burnham, Logan Jackson, and Hazel Henshaw. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty grew up in and around Nutley, New Jersey. She attended Western Maryland College (a small Methodist college). She worked in Oak Ridge, Tennessee at K-9, a facility responsible for making the atomic bomb. She was responsible for testing a part of the bomb. She never knew what they were working on as everything was very compartmentalized. She met her husband on a bus trip while traveling to see her sister. She lived a large part of her life in Tyler, Texas. She worked for many years as a teacher's aide at Mattie Jones and Bonner Elementary and then as a librarian aide at Boulter Jr High. She was a long-time member of the former Wesley UMC in Tyler where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. After retiring and moving to their dream home on Lake Fork in Yantis, she was a member of First UMC in Quitman, where for a period of time , she organized and ran the church library.
Betty was a devoted Christian, and loving wife and mother. We give thanks today that she has joined her husband in the presence of our loving heavenly Father.
A graveside service will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler, TX, located at 2400 S. Donnybrook. Following the graveside will be a memorial service for Elizabeth at 1pm in Quitman, TX, at First United Methodist Church, located at 406 E. Lane Street.
