

Services for Floyd Earl Rix, 83, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:30p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at Cedar Street United Methodist Church, located at 1420 N. Church Ave. in Tyler, with Rev. Dr. Karen Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery at 7524 S. Broadway in Tyler.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home, located at 1101 East First St., Tyler, Texas 75701.
Mr. Rix passed away on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 in Tyler. Floyd was born Nov. 5, 1931 in Alto, Texas to the late Curtis Floyd and Mattie Merle Holcomb Rix. He graduated from Tyler High School in 1949 and attended Tyler Jr. College for a short time. Floyd was in the Texas National Guard for several years. He grew up attending Cedar Street United Methodist Church and was member for 71 years. Floyd and his wife of 58 years, Billie Elizabeth McElroy, were married on Aug. 3, 1956. Floyd worked for the US Post Office for 38 years, retiring on Nov. 30, 1990.
Floyd enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, tennis, golf, family gatherings, playing 42 dominoes and following the Dallas Cowboys.
Floyd is survived by his beloved wife, Billie Elizabeth Rix, daughter, Diana Rix of Garland, and son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Carla Rix of Southlake, and all the grandchildren: Carter Rix attending college at Texas A&M, Aylor Rix of Grapevine, Brooke Saddler of Grapevine, and Megan, her husband, Brandon Janes, and their daughter, Ava, of Norman, Oklahoma, and several nieces and a nephew.
Floyd is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert Ray and Myrna Rix of Allen. Floyd is preceded in death by his brother, Henry Gene Rix and survived by his sister-in-law and wife of Henry, Maxine Rix of Lockhart, Texas.
Pallbearers are Carter Rix, Blake McElroy, Kevin McElroy, Roger McElroy, Casey McElroy and John Lanham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Street UMC, located at 1420 N. Church Ave., Tyler, Texas 75702.
