

Graveside services for Fred Hartsfield will be held Friday, September 15, 2012 at 10AM in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery. Fred passed away September 11, 2012. Rev. Richard Tate will officiate the service for family and friends.
Born to Samuel and Cora Ross Hartsfield on Sept. 10, 1926 in Hempstead County, Arkansas, Fred was one of 15 children. Surviving siblings include: Flora Harmon of Hope, AR, Lou Taylor of Chadron, NE, Sandy Moore of Sequim, WA, Frank Hartsfield of Pine Bluff, AR, May Hartsfield, Dale Hartsfield and Nell Clover, all of Tyler.
Fred was preceded by the death of his beloved wife, Francis, in August, 1999.
Fred is also survived by seven children, three stepsons and four sons: Chris Hartsfield and wife, Ok, of Austin, Sam Hartsfield and wife, Judy, of Chandler, John Hartsfield and wife, Sheila, of Tyler and Joe Hartsfield and wife, Donna, of Newark, AR. Stepsons include Charles Cowell and wife, Edna, of Tyler, Gerald Cowell and wife, Ann, of San Diego, CA, Robert Henley and wife, Wanda, of Carthage.
Fred has been blessed with 25 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Fred was considered a great father by all of his sons whom he taught to work hard and to be responsible for their actions. They considered him the king of corny jokes, a man who would help anyone he could, a strong supporter of his church, and a man of many skills and talents.
A special thanks to the staff of Chandler Nursing Home, where he called home for the past 10 years. Mother Francis Hospital showed great compassion and care for the last hours of Fred’s life.
In lieu of flowers, family request donations to be given to Fairwood Methodist Church in Tyler, in the name of Fred Hartsfield.
