

Glenn Embree Cook, 91, passed peacefully from this earthly home on May 21, 2026 to join his two wives, mother, father, son, sisters, brothers, and many friends in his heavenly home but most importantly his savior and friend. While the world may be a little dimmer in his absence, the heavens are brighter with his homecoming. His earthly family and church friends can only imagine his voice in song resonating in the heavens. At age 91, Glenn had a lifetime of stories to tell.
Glenn was born March 5, 1935, in Tyler, TX. He was the son of Abram James and Lou Ellen Cook. He had many brothers and sisters: Paulette, Claira, Dolly, Nancey, Jean, Paul & Porter. He went to elementary school at Douglas and finished at Tyler High. He married his first wife February 26, 1954. They had 3 children. Glenn is survived by 2 daughters: Debby Beall, and Glenda Mink & her husband Ed. His son – Glynn Stephen Cook died in Sept. 2022. Glenn had 5 grandchildren – Lori Cruce & husband Bryan; Glenn Mink & wife Amber; Julie Garner & husband Scott; Shelley Carter & Nikki Carter; Josh Cook & wife Lindsey Cook. He had 7 great-grandchildren – Connor, Dylan, Kami, Korbin, Samuel, Ella and Alice. Shirley Burleson, his first wife died on March 27, 1986.
Glenn married his second wife Dot Thorne February 1987. She passed away from this earthly home in 2023. Glenn was survived by Jaime Battalie & husband Shane; Cristy Sechrist & husband Ken. He had 9 grandchildren: Abigail, Jesse (Scooter), Hunter, Faith, Wyatt, River, Chad, Cristy, Jaime and 3 great-grandchildren: Parker, Marshall, and Attilynn.
Glenn was an avid outdoorsman. He loved the forest and woods. Fishing, camping, or just the adventure of discovering the forest itself was his main hobby. He was a carpenter. He built 3 of our homes from scratch. He drove a truck for 35 years for Coca-Cola and Red Ball Motor Freight.
Glenn served as a deacon in 4 Baptist churches during his earthly life. He taught Sunday school for 20 years. He was a congregational song leader in many different churches for many years. May God bless him for his service.
