
Hazel W. Hansen was born December 21, 1915 in Nye, Wisconsin to the late Jens and Martha Hansen. She passed away on August 20, 2012. Hazel graduated from Osceola High School and received her BS degree from the University of Houston. During her post graduate work she received the Helen Kemmerer Scholar Award.
After several years working at Hughes Tool Company, she was employed in 1955 by Champion International, Pasadena, TX and later transferred to Hamilton, OH, New York City and Stamford, CT as Special Assistant to the Chairman and CEO.
She was active in a number of organizations including National Secretaries Association where she was elected Secretary of the Year-1957; Desk & Derrick Club, Houston; Altrusa Club, Hamilton, OH and NYC; board member and tutor Literacy Volunteers of Stamford; American Association of University Women, Hamilton, NYC, an Tyler; Phi Kappa Phi; and the Advancement of Management.
Survivors include nieces: Martha Dinwiddie and husband Richard, Bullard, TX and June Waltenberger, Fresno, CA; nephews Douglas & Carol Hansen, Bonita Springs, FL, Stephen & Jane Hansen, Maumee OH, Charles & Margie Hansen, Houston, TX, Gary & Carole Hansen, Clinton, WA, James & Gloria Hansen, Grafton, WI, Brian & Trisha Hansen, Milwaukee, WI; and many great and great great nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Russell, Vernon, Willis, Inar, Ernest & Earl Hansen.
She is a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, MA.
A graveside service will be held in Osceola, WI.
