Services for James E. Coulter “Big Daddy”, 84, of Tyler are scheduled for 12:00 noon Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Craig Little, Rev. Bennie Portwood, Rev. Fred McWhorter and James Mark Coulter officiating. Burial is in Sand Flat Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Coulter went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in Tyler.
He was born on July 12, 1927 in Sand Flat to the late Richard Alexander and Lillie Stephens Coulter. He retired from Carrier Corp. after 45 years of service. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 40 years. He served on the board of the Sand Flat Cemetery Association and also on the Winona School Board for several years. He was a member of the Lindale Masonic Lodge #848 for over 50 years. The most important thing to Mr. Coulter was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family and friends. His hobby was raising cattle.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lila Hitt Coulter; daughters, Pam C. Evans and husband Ky and Jill Parker and husband Pat; son, Mark Coulter and wife Laura; grandchildren, Lance and Jessica Evans, Brandon and Holly Parker, Fallon and Gabe Jones, Chase and Katie Evans, Tyler and Lindsay Coulter, Brady Parker, Tanner Coulter and Summer Coulter; great grandchildren, Silas Jones, Jude Jones, Coulter James Evans, Felicity Jones, Lyla Evans and Lilly Grace Parker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Coulter was preceded in death by a brother, L.R. Coulter; sisters, Edna McMillin, Wanda Garnier, Grace Hitt and Velma Akers
Pallbearers are Lance Coulter Evans, Brandon Coulter Parker, Chase Coulter Evans, James Tyler Coulter, Brady Coulter Parker and Tanner Coulter.
Honorary pallbearers are Ky Evans, Pat Parker, Laura Coulter, Rex Coulter, Jay Coulter Warmke, Teddy McDowell, Ennis Bynum, Charles Scovern, Steve Coleman Lexie Coulter, Lana Coulter Martin, Kacy Coulter Mitchell and the State Park Store Coffee Group.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
