

Services for James Louis Joplin, 72, of Tyler are scheduled for 1:30 P.M., Monday, February 21, 2011 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Waldon officiating. Burial is in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Joplin passed passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 in Tyler.
He was born on October 3, 1938 in Ropesville to the late Carl Allen Joplin Sr. and Frieda Anna Bonker Joplin. He started out in the nursery business and worked for Swift and Co. in the agricultural division from 1961-67; in 1967-76 he worked for Velsicol Chemical Co. Then in 1976 until retirement in 1993 he worked for Jacobson Manufacturing Company and he owned and operated Mr. J’s Manufacturing. He was an active member of Walter Fair United Methodist Church for over 40 years and was currently active in Bascom United Methodist Church. He had lived in Tyler since 1967.
He was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Edward Joplin, brother, Carl Allen Joplin Jr. and sister, Javon Rhodes.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Joplin of Tyler; son Joel Joplin and Cindy of Tyler; grandchildren, Jarrod Buckner and Joshua Joplin and sister-in-law, Cynthia Calhoun.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be the city of Arp’s Police Explorers.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one of Mr. Joplin favorite charities, Salvation Army, Path, the Sheriff’s Association or Paralyzed Veterans.
