

Jane Baxley Maher (“Janie”) passed away Friday, May10th, 2013 at the age of 97. Janie was born November 14, 1915 to Margaret and Odren Baxley in Morganfield, Ky. She is preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Odren, her husband of 57 years, John J. Maher (“Johnny”) and grandchildren; John Charles Maher and Stephen Anthony Maher II. She is survived by her sons, John J. Maher III and wife, Jamille; Michael O. Maher and wife, Denise; Stephen A. Maher and wife, Susan; James E. Maher and wife, Sally; her daughter, Anne St. Pierre; her grandchildren, Tina Maher Frasard, Joseph E. Maher, Gregory M. Maher, Scott E. Maher, Maggie Zhang and her great grandchildren, Ayden Maher, Graysen Maher, Shelby Frasard, and Tyler Frasard.
Shortly after her birth, Janie moved to Tyler, Texas with her parents and became a long standing parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Tyler. Janie was extremely proud of her Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) heritage and the long standing affiliation her family had with the Catholic Church from the time of their arrival to this “new world” with Lord Baltimore to the time of her passing. She was a devout Catholic. In 1997 she and Johnny moved to Kingwood, TX to be closer to her children. At that time they became members of St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Kingwood.
Janie was a loving and supporting mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. However, we are all comforted by the knowledge that she is in a much better place with those loved ones who preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler, TX from 5:30 to 6:30 pm followed by a Rosary at 6:30 pm on Sunday, May 19th. A funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Tyler, TX at 10:00am on Monday, May 20th followed by internment at Oakwood Cemetery, Tyler, TX. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
