Colonel Joe B. Whitt, USAF Retired

Colonel Joe B. Whitt, 85, took his final flight on Friday, May 10th, 2019.

Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery on Thursday, May 16th, 2019 at 11:00 AM.

He served in the Air Force for 27 years as a reconnaissance and fighter pilot; serving in Vietnam and on many bases in the United States and Europe. His military decorations include the Distinguished Service Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Medal with 13 oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Commendations Medal.

He loved to hunt, fish and go camping. Joe was a devoted husband and father.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Whitt; brothers Doyle Whitt, Dan Whitt and Howard Whitt, and sister Reba Jane Whitt.

Joe is survived by his wife of 65 years, Annette; daughters Kay Cox, Katherine Johnson and her husband Bob, son Mark Whitt and his wife Charlene, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

I've always admired Joe, and I'm sorry that he's no longer with us. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I know how much he is missed, and life won't be the same without him. My heart breaks for you, Annette; I know how much you loved Joe. And my prayers of peace and comfort are also with you Kay, Mark and Katherine.
