John Kermit Owen

John was an accomplished chemical engineer & a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. John graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1996. He had a deep love of all things academic and has been quoted saying, “We all benefit from the achievements of the talented and educated.”

John was honored to serve as president of the Louis and Peaches Owen Family Foundation. In 2008, the John Kermit Owen Endowed Chemistry Scholarship was established at the University of Texas at Tyler, rewarding students on the basis of academic performance and financial need.

John is survived by his wife of 25 years Rebecca, his son, Patrick and his wife Cathelene, daughter Sophia and her husband Blake Robinson, and daughter Darby. John leaves his beloved grandchildren Isabelle, Alice, Archer, Ramona, Joan, and Matthew. He leaves his sister, Celeste and husband Bob Rekeita, and brother Paul and his wife Teresa; nieces Kristen and Lindsay, nephews Bryce and Nicholas, and many other beloved family members.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Owen, Darby Owen, Bryce Owen, Robert Rekieta, Kristen Claeys and Ty Beard.
