Joe Dougherty was born in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on November 12, 1930 to Philip and Anna Dougherty. After Joe's father and mother passed, Joe, his sister and brother went to live with cousins Frank and Katie Zagst in Shreveport, Louisiana. After graduation, Joe worked on a Seismograph crew until he became a member of the United States Marine Corps. There, he attended surveying school. He married Jeannine in October of 1955 and enjoyed 70 plus years of marriage. he retired from Halliburton after 42 years as a supervisor. During his retirement Joe enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Joe and Jeannine share three children, Mike, Joe, and Karen; Grandchildren, Sharye (Bart), Kristy (Stephen), Katie, and Kelly (Justin); Great-grandchildren, Mason, Everly, Kaitlyn, Hayden and Caleb. Joe was preceded in death by his brother Philip and his sister Mary McGrahana.
