L.A. "Pete" Peters

Services for L.A. “Pete” Peters, 80, of Tyler are scheduled for 9:30 A.M., Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sherman Mayfield and George Hall officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. The Commandry will serve as Honor Guard. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by George Hall, Richard Gaiser, Norm Quaas, and Lloyd Howerton.

Mr. Peters passed away on July 20, 2011 in Tyler.

He was born in 1930 to the late Anton Charles Peters & Bertha Wilhelmina Wirth Peters.

He was retired from Trane as a manufacturing engineer. He served in Germany with the occupational forces of the U.S. Air Force. Pete was active and excelled in all aspects of Free Masonry. His accomplishments included Past Master of Tyler Lodge No. 1233 A.F. & A.M., District Deputy Grand Master 1990 and 2000. Past Presiding officer of all York Rite Bodies, District Deputy of Chapter and Council, Past Sovereign of the Red Cross of Constantine, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Endowed member of Waco Scottish Rite and the Dallas Scottish Rite. He served as Potentate of Sharon Shrine in 1987 and 2010. He was Past President of Texas Shrine Clown Association, Past President of Sharon Shrine Clowns, and was a Sharon Shrine Oriental Band Member. He was a past member of the Board of Directors at the Houston Shrine Hospital for Children. He was a member of the American Legion and Boy Scouts of America where he served as Assistant Scout Master. He was also a member of the Tyler Woodworkers Club.

He is survived by his wife Ann Peters of Tyler, sons Joe Peters of Austin and Tony Peters and wife Sherry of Flint and three grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan and Kristen; step-grandchildren, Jesse and Jennifer; step great grandchilden, Taylor and Tarayn.

Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
