LaDonna A. Donelson

LaDonna Ann Donelson (Slaughter), age 59, was born in Tyler, Texas on August 29, 1963, to Donald and Patsy Slaughter. LaDonna passed peacefully at 9:33 am on April 28, 2023, at Medical City Dallas Hospital in Dallas, Texas in the presence of her sister, Belinda Anthens, brother-in-law, Les Herrington and husband, Byron Donelson. LaDonna graduated from Spring High School in Spring, Texas. In high school, she loved competitive roller skating and competed on a national level. She attended Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Tyler. LaDonna worked in retail sales most of her career working for Foley's, Dillard’s and Macy’s in Austin, San Antonio and Dallas. She also worked for Goodwill Industries.

LaDonna enjoyed traveling, fine dining, jewelry and fashion. LaDonna and Byron met on one of her trips celebrating her 40th birthday in Las Vegas in 2003. They stayed in touch for several years before beginning to date and eventually married on May 30, 2015. They lived in Dallas, Texas for most of their marriage with a short 2-year hiatus in Los Angeles, California. They enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Santa Fe and throughout Texas and California.

LaDonna is survived by her husband, Byron Donelson; her mother, Patsy Slaughter McKinney and her husband, Robert McKinney; sister, Belinda Anthens and her husband, Les Herrington; niece, Natalie Rockovich and her husband, Chad Rockovich and their daughter, Reese. LaDonna was preceded in death by her father, Donald Slaughter.

The family will receive friends at Lloyd James Funeral Home on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup with Rev. Sherman Mayfield officiating, under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
