She was born on August 5, 1928 in Big Spring to the late W. H. (Bill) and Irene Greenlee Shaw. Mrs. Densmore passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 in Chandler.
As a toddler Wanda was selected as Little Miss Handy Andy in Big Spring. The family moved to Tyler where she graduated from Tyler High School in 1945 and then attended Tyler Commercial College. She also lived in Waco and Oklahoma City for several years. She was an accounting clerk for Liberty Mutual Insurance in Tyler for several years and most recently at Combined Underwriters. She was a charter member of University Christian Church, which is where you would find her every Sunday until she was unable to attend.
Family was the most important thing in Wanda’s life and she always said that her greatest accomplishment was having three sons that made her so proud. She loved family gatherings – whether it was a holiday or a birthday event or a family gathering for no reason at all- she was always there with a smile. Her sons could always count on her to call on their birthdays and sing “Happy Birthday” and when the first snowflake of the season came she would sing “Let It Snow” . She loved going to El Charro #1 and the staff would almost always have a Margarita waiting for her. Most Saturday nights you could find Wanda and a host of other family members at El Charro.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents W. H. (Bill) Shaw and Irene Greenlee Shaw and husband, Bobby Don Densmore.
Survivors include three sons Ron Smith, Harrisburg, PA, Randal Smith, Kansas City, MO, Rick and Brenda Smith, Chandler, TX Sister and brother-in-law Sue and Weldon York, Tyler, five grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Kansas City, MO, Penney Smith, Aaron Smith, Carmen Smith and Tim Smith all of Harrisburg, PA, six great-grandchildren, nephews Mike York, Matt York and niece Melanie York Vance, six great-nieces and nephews all of Tyler.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday May 4, 2011 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.

The family will gather Thursday evening May 5, 2011 at El Charro #1 to honor Wanda and celebrate her life. She would not want it any other way.

Memorials may be made to Chandler Nursing Center, Compassionate Hospice Care or the charity of one’s choice.
