Linda Kay Jackson, of Tyler, traveled to Cancun, Mexico with family and friends to enjoy the beach and relax in the sun. While there, she suffered a massive stroke and had her passport stamped to a new home in Heaven on November 2, 2014.
Linda was born Linda Kay Barron on September 28, 1949 to Paul Orban and Dorothy Lou Irish Barron in Logansport, Louisiana. She grew up in Joaquin, Texas and graduated from Joaquin High School. She then attended Panola Junior College.
Her early adult years were spent as a stay-at-home Mom, caring for her two boys. Her first and only employment job began as a pharmacy clerk. When the Texas State Board of Pharmacy created the Pharmacy Technician program, she took the exam and became a certified pharmacy technician. She worked over 30 years in a pharmacy. She was a member of a local wine-tasting group, which later became a gourmet food and wine-tasting affair. And for a few years, she was a member of the Azalea Garden Club in Tyler.
She is survived by husband, Royce Jackson; sons, Mark Cockrell (wife Lesia), of Grand Saline, and Brian Cockrell (wife Michelle), of Fort Worth; sister, Charlotte King (husband Don), of Dayton; brother Paul Barron (wife Glenda), of Temple; stepchildren Eric Jackson (wife Shelly), of Murphy, and Melissa Hurst (husband Steven), of Whitehouse; as well as nine step grandchildren, three nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
The greatest love in her life was her family, where nothing was too good for them. The more she saw her family, the happier she would be. She also loved to travel, with cruising was her favorite way to go.
It did not matter where or when, just "Let me get my purse!" Her last trip was a 42-day cruise of the South Pacific.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Lloyd James Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matthew Boulter officiating.
As plants were known to suffer a quick death under her control, the family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, she would prefer a donation in her name to Pets Fur People, 1823 CR 386, Tyler, Texas 75708.
