Lou Ethel Brown

Lou was born on July 29, 1939 in Sulphur Springs. She was the eldest daughter of Flonnie and Franklin Rowe. She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and sang in the Highest Praise choir and the Celebration choir for many years. She was also a member of the Discipleship Sunday School class.

From the time she was a small child, she knew she wanted to be a schoolteacher. Lou achieved this dream after graduating from East Texas State University and went on to teach elementary school in Seguin ISD, Greenville ISD, and Mineola ISD. She was an active member of Retired Teachers Smith County, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher Society — Kappa Pi Chapter.

Upon her retirement, she loved volunteering in the library at Dixie Elementary and Green Acres Music Library, both in Tyler.

Lou met Charles "Charlie" Brown while attending East Texas State and they married in December of 1960. Charles preceded her in death in 1993.

Along with her husband Charles, she is preceded in death by her parents Franklin and Flonnie Rowe, her greatly adored son Jason Brown, her sister, Linda Anderson and her niece, Sherie Kao.

Lou is survived by her daughter, Kim Brown and Jennifer Dial of Schulenburg and her sister-in-law,

Carolyn Burt of Tyler. She is also survived by nephews Wayne Burt and wife Shawn of Commerce, Jack Anderson and wife Jennifer of Greenville, and Michael Anderson and wife LeeAnn of Royse City, as well as great nieces and nephews.

Lou loved everyone she met and made friends wherever she was. We'd like to thank our family at Garden Estates and Hospice of East Texas for taking such great care of her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701 in her memory.

A time of visitation for Lou will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel, 1607 Troup Highway, Tyler, Texas. A a celebration of life will occur Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Green Acres Baptist Church, 1607 Troup Highway, TYL, Texas. A graveside service will occur Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 3:30 PM at Sonora Cemetery, 6639 County Road 4705, Commerce, TX.
