Lucille "Sunny" Greer Ethridge

Sunny was born October 12, 1930, in Olney, Texas and was the daughter of Loraine Lewis Greer and James L. Greer. Her sunny disposition led to her nickname given to her by her grandfather. Her family moved to Galena Park, Texas where she graduated from Galena Park High School in 1947. Sunny married the love of her life, Charles Ethridge on January 28, 1948, and was the proud mother of four very special children: Kathy, Judy, Bob, and Mickey. She spent her life ensuring that her family was well cared for and loved. Nothing brought her greater joy than cooking and caring for family and friends.

Before relocating to Tyler, Sunny was actively involved with the First Baptist Church of Galena Park holding multiple places of service. For fifty years she was a member of the Galena Park Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #884 and held the highest position of Worthy Matron. She also was a Mother Advisor for the Galena Park Rainbow Girls. Sunny was named a Life Member of the PTA for Galena Park ISD. Her career included secretarial work at First Baptist Church of Galena Park and she retired after twenty years as secretary for Robert W. Wood, Jr. M.D.

After moving to Tyler, Texas in 2007, Sunny became very active in her retirement living community of Garden Estates. She was secretary of the resident council, was on the welcome committee, and very active in social and creative activities. She loved and cared for everyone there as much as they loved and cared for her. Sunny sewed stocking hats for P.A.T.H. along with other members of the Garden Estates community to donate to children and the homeless. She was an active member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.

Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jimmy Lee Greer, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Joe Pat Ethridge and Leeroy Ludwig and sister-in-law, Peggy Ethridge. Sunny leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Charles R. Ethridge; sister-in-laws, Martha Ludwig of Houston, Texas and Betty Greer of Montgomery, Texas; four children: daughter, Kathy Boyd and husband Ronnie of Conroe, Texas; daughter Judy Richmond and husband Tim of Bullard, Texas; son Robert (Bob) Ethridge and wife Celia of Tyler, Texas; son Mickey Ethridge and wife Cathy of Houston, Texas; eleven grandchildren: Pam Hudson and husband John of Whitehouse, Texas; Elizabeth Garrison and husband Chris of Bullard, Texas; Mary Williamson of Conroe, Texas; T.J. Richmond and wife Brandy of Bullard, Texas; Rhonda Bailey and husband Blaine of Conroe, Texas; Laura Sutton and husband David of Fort Collins, Colorado; Carol White and husband James of Abilene, Texas; Sarah Ethridge of Palestine, Texas; Lisa Miley of Houston, Texas; Kimberly Ethridge of Houston, Texas and Matthew Ethridge of Houston, Texas; ten great grandchildren: Serena, Mark Allen and Jordan Martin; Parker Hudson; Keili and Kolbi Richmond; Katelyn and Kelsey White; Josiah and Elijah Sutton.
