She graduated from Phillips High School and later attended Texas Tech in Lubbock. She married Howard “Buck” Wesley Shaw on August 16, 1959. They lived in Midland for twenty years before moving to Dallas and then retiring in Bullard, where they were members of the Emerald Bay community. After Howard’s death in 2001, Mallie stayed at Emerald Bay another 13 years, designing and building her own house, and enjoying bridge, mah jongg and golf.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Jan and Ahmed Doleh, of Sachse; her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jerome “Tonk” Fischer, of Salem, Oregon, and their children, Christopher Fischer, Hayley Eld and Jennifer Kazmar; her great-granddaughter, Adalyn Kazmar; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Don Edwards, of Houston, and their daughter, Mallory; and her son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Wanda Shaw, of Houston.
A graveside service will be held at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
