

Margaret Elizabeth Curtis was born August 27, 1927 in Tyler to Alfred Benson and Lillian Margaret (Barron) Curtis. She attended school in Tyler, graduating from Tyler High in December of 1943. After one semester at The Hockaday School, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, receiving an Associate of Arts degree. She then attended The University of Texas in Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She became an enthusiastic Longhorn fan and was a Lifetime Member of The Texas Exes.
In 1950, she was employed by George Washington Hospital in Washington, D.C. where she met her future husband, I.C. “Scotty” Scott. They married January 20, 1950 and as Scotty said, “When you marry a Texan, you become a Texan”, and they soon moved back to Texas. They were married for 53 years until his death in 2003.
Margaret was a Co-Owner of a family business, Boren-Scott Title Company (formerly Boren Abstract Company). She retired upon the sale of the company as Vice-President in 1999.
Margaret was a charter member and longtime Outreach Chairman of University Christian Church in Tyler, member and Past President of the Tyler Council of Church Women and member and Past President of The Tyler Day Nursery. She was deeply devoted to her church, its church members and the children of the Day Nursery.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, A.B. and Lillian Curtis, her husband I.C. “Scotty” Scott and her sister, Nancy Bauman.
Survivors are daughter, Sally Rosenberg and husband, Adam of Castle Rock, CO; son Andy Scott of Tyler, TX; and daughter, Nancy Yoxall and husband, Kevin of Hewitt, TX. Grandchildren include Jake Rosenberg and wife Heather; Scott Rosenberg and wife Heather; Beth Brogan and husband, Steve; Michael Rosenberg; Alyssa Rosenberg; Curtis Scott; Drew Scott; Matthew Scott and wife Colleen; Collin Yoxall and fiancé Angelique Dawkins and Marlee Yoxall and husband Ben Jacobs, as well as 10 Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Margaret’s grandchildren.
Graveside services for Margaret Elizabeth Curtis Scott, 96, of Tyler, will be at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Rose Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Ron Byrd officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home of Tyler. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Saturday February 10, 2024 at the funeral home.
