

A funeral Mass will be said for Mary Louise Hafner Slicker, 68, at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 4, 2014, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler with Father Eugene Tillekeratne officiating. Burial will follow in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.
Mary was born on April 5, 1946 in Evanston, Illinois to Mildred Wand and Donald Hafner.
She passed away peacefully on November 30, 2014 at Mother Frances Hospital surrounded by family.
Mrs. Slicker was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Quincy, Illinois and received a nursing degree from Blessing Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy, Illinois. She then later earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from UT Tyler. She worked as a nurse, beginning her career in Lake Forest, Illinois. After moving to Texas, she held numerous positions in the Tyler area as a nurse and nurse supervisor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred (Wand) and Donald Hafner; sister, Donna Snyder; brother, Roger Hafner; granddaughter, Kennedy Claire Booker; and nephew, James Snyder.
She is survived by her daughter, Johna Clemons and her husband Clay, of Tyler; son, J. Max Slicker and his wife Virginia, of Tyler; sister, Ann Hafner, of Quincy, Illinois; sister, Kathleen Duff and husband Michael, of Westfield, Indiana; grandchildren, Morgan Booker of Wilmington, Delaware, Mia Slicker, Jeremiah Slicker, Derek Clemons and Aaron Clemons, all of Tyler.
Pallbearers will be Andy Albright, Al Flanagan, Charles Groce, Marvin Hollingsworth, Mark Jackson, and Andy Luster.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Lloyd James Funeral Home with rosary at 7:00 P.M.
The family would like to thank a few special people who took such sweet care of her during her last days, Kim, Mike, Jared, Pharris, Helen, Amy, Michael, Angie and all the other Continued Care staff.
