Mary Lou Cowley Whitten

Memorial service for Mary Louise Whitten will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Emerald Bay Community Church with Dr. Jay Riley officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whitten passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2010 in Bullard.

She was born on July 9, 1929 in Corsicana, TX, to Connie and Verna Mae Cowley. She was raised in the farming community of Covington TX. At the age of 20 she moved to Dallas and began her banking career at Greenville Avenue Bank. While in Dallas, Mary met her future husband Charles on a blind date. They were married for 47 years. She continued to work in banking and concluded her banking career as an officer at Southside Bank. Upon retirement they moved to Emerald Bay where she became an avid golfer, and later a doting grandmother to her grandchildren. She was a member of the Emerald Bay Community Church and was a woman of strong Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Wynnette Jean, and her husband Charles M. Whitten.

She is survived by daughter, Lynette Ruby and husband Britt of Tyler; grandchildren, Kyndall Ruby Semones and husband Nathan of Dallas, and Charles S. Ruby of Tyler.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday September 13, 2010 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
