Born to Isaura and Trinidad Gonzales, in Littlefield, TX, he was the eldest son in a family of 7. Early in life, Mark, as he was favorably known as, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and traveled the world in his 16 years of service to his country. Mark spent his working years developing a niche for cleaning up problematic situations in two major industries. He spent many years in the Rent to Own industry and traveled the central southwest with his family. Mark made his way around the country from West Texas, to Oklahoma and New Mexico. He traveled further out west to Las Vegas, NV, ultimately landing in Michigan. It was here where Mark would re-imagine himself and make a career switch into the world of Quality Assurance in the food manufacturing industry. He cut his teeth once again in the meat production plants of Holland, MI. More recently, Mark was the 2nd Shift QA Manager for John Soules Foods in Tyler, TX, where he has spent the last year. Prior to that work, he spent 11 years with Ajinomoto-Discovery Foods in Fort Worth, TX.
Mark had a passion for collecting his interests. He was a voracious reader and amassed a daunting collection of various reading materials. From his collection of Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy novels to his precious comics, both printed and digital, he was constantly reading something new. Mark was also an eclectic music lover. His collections include 8 tracks, cassette tapes, 45’s and LP records ranging from Baroque classics to Foghat, and from Glen Miller to Phil Collins. Mark’s passion for media in all its forms extended into movies as well. He created a massive collection of not only VHS tapes, but also DVD’s that spans several shelves and walls in his home.
Just prior to his enlistment in the USMC, Mark would marry the love of his life, Mary, and would embark on a life together lasting these past 47 years. It was Mary, who stayed by his side “for better or worse, and in sickness and in health”. Mark is survived by his wife and children and brothers and sisters; Mary Gonzales, Marc Gonzales and his family, Mariclare Ingrahm and her son and Michelle Crum and family. His brother’s; Gilbert Gonzales and family, Raymond Gonzales and family. His Sisters; Lisa Gonzales and family, Delia Richardson and family, Alvina Evans and family, Cathy Knippel. He was preceded in death by his parents Isaura and Trinidad and his daughter Melanie.
