Joyce McWilliams Hart went to her Lord and Savior July 17, 2015. She was born in Atwell, Texas July 27, 1925 to Mygnit and Cora McWilliams. Joyce was married to William S. Hart who preceded her in death as did her two sisters, Edith Walton, Fairy Scott, and two brothers, Warren McWilliams and Ross McWilliams. She was the loving mother of three children, seven grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Daughter Brenda and husband Hal Cameron, their children Paige and Hart, son Lex Hart, his sons Cameron and Preston, son William Hart and his wife Laurie, their daughter Leah, sons Wes, Scott and his wife Cayti, and their children Sophie and Olivia.
Anyone fortunate enough to call Joyce a friend had a true and loyal person in their corner. All who knew her knew to go to her back door where they were greeted with genuine warmth, a smile, a hug, and a cup of coffee. Her family benefitted often from this calm and gentle demeanor. She continued her service to her family her entire life. Her joy and laughter will remain forever in the hearts of all who loved her.
She was a beautiful person in every way… always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She played softball in her youth and had great fun following the Texas Rangers Baseball. Having grown up on a farm she loved the outdoors and found solace in nature. During WWII she worked in a parachute factory in support of our troops. Joyce was a very accomplished and creative gardener, seamstress and cook. She loved poetry and was an avid reader. She enjoyed reading and singing lullabies to her children when they were young. She had a beautiful singing voice and often sang while working around the house. In her late teens and early twenties she sang many times with the late Bob Wills. Joyce brought much gentleness to the world along with a strength of character anchored by her steadfast determination to follow God’s word. She was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church which she supported along with several local nursing homes and The Salvation Army.
There will be a private family service. The family requests anyone who wishes to make a donation in her memory to The Salvation Army, 631 N. Broadway, Tyler, 75702.
