

Services for Norma “Jean” West, 82, of Tyler are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2011 at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Thoene officiating. Burial is in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mrs. West passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Tyler.
She was born on August 20, 1928 in Vernon to the late Alf Waldo and Lorena Spradlin Simmonds. She was a member of Grace Community Church and retired as a realtor/broker after 30 years of service. Jean’s early years were filled with several Red Cross safety programs. She taught Red Cross swimming and life saving methods and was a life guard for several years while attending Oklahoma State University. She graduated from high school in Guthrie, Oklahoma and was owner operator of West Grocery and Feed at the Gresham Community for 10 years. Jean’s deep Christian conviction reflected her action always helping those needing help and assisted many to share that conviction.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Wayne Simmonds.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Richard West of Tyler; daughters Kay L. West,Tyler; Gail Cooper and husband Ronnie,Flint, Lydia K. West,Tyler, Lisa Jones and husband James,Chandler and Sharon Lee Barrett,Tyler; grandchildren; Damon,Cindi and Cameron Baldwin, Angelia Vineyard, Seth and Jacob Collier and Sara Barrett; nine great grandchildren and close living favorite cousins Margarite Crain, Quincy Crawford, Virginia Demers and Mary Holubec.
Visitation will be at 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
