She was born in Bullard, Texas to George and Louisa Clyburn on February 26, 1923.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus L. Tennsion; her parents, two brothers, L.G. and Travis; three sisters, Claudia Bean, Dorothy Jackson, and Nadine Tennison; and one son-in-law, Steven Longshore.
She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Kennedy and son-in-law John, and Nadara Stamps-Longshore. She had seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren, sister Barbara Braly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Bullard Texas High School. She also trained in nursing from Nan Travis Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Texas. Opal had a passion for children and worked for 30 plus years as a pediatric nurse. She was a longtime member of University Church of Christ. Opal loved to travel with friends and family and took many trips with Chuck’s Travel. But her greatest joy in life was spending time with grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held on Sunday, June 10 from 6-8pm at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Her memorial service will be held at University Church of Christ on Monday, June 11 at 2pm, with her grandson Shaun Stamps officiating. Interment will be held at Cathedral in the Pines.
Pallbearers will be son-in-law John Kennedy; grandsons Shea Stamps, Casey and Shane Kennedy; great-grandsons Shawn-Mark Deems, and Brayden Goodson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Great-Grandsons Tyler and Cheyenne Kennedy, and Matthew Manziel; Grandsons-in-law Mike Goodson and Billy Harris; Great-Grandson-in-law Brandon Castle and Craig Barlow, family friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charity Saint Jude’s Hospital for Children.
