

Patricia Ann Allen was born on May 5, 1935 in Healdton, Oklahoma to Bradford N. And Ruby P. Simmons. She was a graduate of Longview High School, Tyler Junior College and Texas Eastern School of Nursing. She was an operating room nurse at Trinity Mother Francis where she was Operating Room Supervisor and East Texas Medical Center for many years. During her long career in nursing, she also worked at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview as Operating Room Supervisor and at the VA Hospital in Dallas. She also worked for Dr. G. Bralesford and Dr. Dan Toney,
She married Lloyd Wayne Allen and they had two sons, Gregory Wayne and Ronald Joe.
She loved cooking for her family, gardening and reading. While taking care of a family and following the career path she said she chose as a child, she made time to volunteer in the community and her church. After she retired, she volunteered with DeHaven Eye Associates in Mombasa, Kenya, taught an operating room tech class at Tyler Junior College and took classes in creative writing and watercolor. She said things that made her smile are cats, kittens and little children.
She always had a helping hand, a nourishing meal or a listening ear for family or friends. She was a strong, caring and giving woman who touched many lives in a positive way. She will be missed terribly by all who love her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents and three siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughter in law, Greg and Margaret Allen, and Ron Allen, her grandchildren Amanda Allen, Josh Allen, Taylor and husband Kevin Shipp, Brian Allen, Katie and husband Drew Thiering, great grandchildren Mackenzy Shane, Dean Allen and Lily Thiering, and sisters Kattie Burns and husband Carl, Sue LaBorde and husband Mike, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. Allen will be held at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14th, 2025.
