Paul lived a rich and varied life defined by music, craftsmanship, and family. In the 1970s, he traveled across the United States playing guitar and bass in several bands, pursuing the music he loved. During the early 1980s, he began a new chapter as an audio engineer, primarily in the advertising industry. It was during that time he met his future wife, Judy, with whom he built a life full of creativity, laughter, and partnership.
Paul and Judy welcomed their son, Joey, in 1986 in Houston, Texas. Soon after, the family moved to the Gulf Coast, where Paul opened his own shop, East Bay Marine, in Gilchrist, Texas, specializing in small boat motor repair. They lived in the shop for a time before settling in nearby High Island. By the mid-1990s, Paul returned to Houston and resumed his audio engineering career, first with Texas Video & Post and later with ADV Films, where his sound design work helped bring popular Japanese anime to English-speaking audiences.
In the early 2000s, Paul and his family moved to Lago Vista, Texas as he continued working remotely with ADV Films. When the company became defunct in 2009, Paul and Judy relocated to Poynor, Texas, where he opened Paul’s Small Engine Repair, continuing his lifelong love of tinkering and fixing things. After retiring around 2016, Paul and Judy settled in Tyler, where they spent their remaining years together.
Paul’s interests reflected his creative and hands-on spirit. He loved playing and working on guitars, building model airplanes, and fishing. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially bands like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, The Police, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. Known for his humor, patience, and inventive mind, Paul approached every project and relationship with care.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Killam, and survived by his son, Joey Killam.
Paul will be remembered for his warmth, curiosity, and the joy he found in music, craftsmanship, and family. His life was a melody of creativity and kindness that will continue to resonate with those who loved him.
