He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1962 and attended Tarleton State University.
He worked in oil field in chemical sales.
He was a member of Tyler Obedience Training Club where he trained Jack Russell Terriers and showed a champion agility dog in the USDAA. He was an avid golfer, horseman, fisherman and sport shooter.
He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Maxine Gilbow Marten and his daughter Lesa Leann Marten.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl Marten, Elizabeth Waldrop and her husband Kevin Brand, Dawn Waldrop, Jim Waldrop his wife Kristin and grandchildren Lane, Chase, Wesley and Shelby, his granddaughter Kasie Lightfoot, his brothers, Gary and his wife Pam, Steve and his wife Tina, his sister Cindy Swanson and her husband Terry, multiple nieces and nephews, and his father in law Melvin Gromatzky.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at Trinity Lutheran Church 2001 Hunter St. Tyler Texas 75701 on Friday January 21st at 2:30 pm.
Visitation with the family will precede the service at 1:30.
Interment to follow on Saturday, January 22nd at Old Alton Cemetery 5724 Teasley Ln. in Denton Texas at 10:00 am.
