Raymond Leroy Vandruff Sr.

Our beloved father, brother, and grandfather Roy passed away on Monday, June 13, 2011 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

He was born on April 24, 1927, in La Jara, Colorado to the late H. Ray Vandruff and Bertha E. Becher. After graduation from La Jara High School, Roy served as an Aerographer’s Mate in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. In 1962, he received a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Houston. A retired Structural Engineer, he spent over five decades drawing and checking – most recently at Texas Eastman.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Margo and his sister, Patsy. He is survived by his son; Lee Vandruff, Lee’s wife Ruth, their children Alex and Abbie of Richardson; sisters, Nedra Chapman of Salt Lake City, Utah, Wilma (Derril) Mickelsen of Sanford, Colorado, Doris Ann of Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition, he will be dearly missed by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday between 12:30-1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County, 211 Winchester, Tyler, TX. 75701
