

Rebecca Eva Vasquez, age 55, of Tyler, formerly of Colorado Springs, CO went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Monday, September 30, 2013 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Rebecca was born in Dalton, Nebraska on July 22, 1958 to Catarino Castillo and Bernardina Martinez. She married Miguel Vasquez on April 25, 2009 in Colorado Springs.
Rebecca will be remembered as a strong woman who loved to help anyone and had friends in all walks of life. Her desire to understand the other’s point of view helped her to foster friendships and to be the best daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother a family could ask for. She had a sense of humor, a fighting spirit, and a beautiful smile that will be missed by all who knew her. Rebecca was a good Christian woman who accepted Christ into her life 3 years ago as she bravely battled cancer.
Rebecca is survived by husband, Miguel; one sister, Dolores Castillo; children, Royella Brown, and husband Vincent, Juan Saenz, and wife Dalia, Angel Saenz, and Davina Saenz; and by four grandchildren, Avery, Reginald, Jayden, and Juanjose.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Catarino Castillo and Bernardina Martinez Castillo, and by one brother, Estevan “Chino” Castillo.
Services for Rebecca Vasquez will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Francisco Maya officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Cemetery in Kilgore with Avery Saenz, Reginald King, Gregg Martinez, Leo Torres, Jaime Hermosillo, and Paquito Saenz serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M., Friday evening, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
